My KAS POS is the phone app for the owners and managers of shops that already use KAS POS. It shows you your own shops’ takings. This notice says exactly what it holds and what it does not, and it was written from the app’s source code rather than from a template.
Our general privacy policy covers this website and our wider business. This page covers the app.
1. Who this is for
You cannot sign up in the app. An account is created for you in KAS Back Office by whoever owns your tenant; the app only signs in to an account that already exists. It is not for shoppers, and it is not for shop-floor staff — they use the till, which has its own notice.
KAS SOFTECH LIMITED is the controller for your account and your use of the app. Registered in England and Wales, company 16688562. Contact info@kassoftech.co.uk.
For the shop figures the app displays, your shop is the controller and we act as its processor under a written contract. The app is a window onto data your shop already holds; it creates none of it.
2. What the app keeps on your phone
- Your sign-in session, so you are not asked to sign in every time.
- Your username and shop code, so the sign-in screen is pre-filled. Your password is never stored on the phone.
- A notification token, if you turn alerts on, so an alert can reach this handset.
All of it is in the app’s own private storage, and deleting the app removes all of it. Nothing on that list leaves the phone except the notification token, which is a meaningless string to anyone but Apple’s or Google’s push service.
3. What the app reads from our servers
Only your own shops, and only summaries: today’s takings and transaction counts, the last fortnight of daily figures, recent end-of-day (Z) reports, and alerts about your shops.
Which shops you can see is decided on the server, from your account’s memberships, and enforced by row-level security in the database — not by the app asking politely. There is no screen in the app that can reach a shop you are not a member of.
The app never reads anything about an individual shopper. No names, no phone numbers, no loyalty records, no basket contents. It deals in totals.
4. What the app does not do
- No advertising. No ad network, no advertising identifier.
- No analytics and no tracking. There is no third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK watching what you tap.
- No tracking across other apps or websites, and nothing is shared with data brokers. Under Apple’s definition, this app does not track you.
- No location. The app never asks for it.
- No contacts, photos, microphone, camera, calendar or health data.
- Nothing is ever sold, to anyone.
The only permission the app asks for is notifications, and only at the moment you turn alerts on — not when you first open it.
5. Who else is involved
- Supabase — the database and sign-in behind every screen. Hosted in the EU (London region).
- Expo — builds the app and relays push notifications. USA.
- Apple and Google — deliver the notification to the handset, and record your download in their own stores. USA.
Transfers outside the UK are covered by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum. We do not share your information with anyone else.
6. How long we keep it
Your account lasts as long as your shop keeps it — ask whoever owns your tenant to remove it and it goes, along with your access. Notification tokens are dropped when you turn alerts off, when you sign out, or when the store’s push service tells us the handset is gone. The shop figures the app displays are kept to your shop’s own retention schedule; the app holds no copy of them.
7. Deleting your account
Accounts are created and removed in KAS Back Office by the person who owns your tenant, so there is no sign-up or delete button in the app itself. If you would rather ask us directly, email info@kassoftech.co.uk from the address on the account and we will remove it and confirm when it is done.
8. Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to how we use it, or ask for it in a portable form. Email info@kassoftech.co.uk. If you think we have got it wrong you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
9. Security
Everything the app sends is encrypted in transit. Your password is stored only as a hash, which nobody — including us — can read back. Access to your shops is enforced by the database itself rather than by the app.
10. Changes
If this notice changes in a way that matters, the app will tell you the next time you open it, rather than quietly updating this page.
